Do you remember when your mother went into menopause? Maybe she was hot one minute and quick to cry or snap on the other. And then you get this dose of reality when you realize that you may be going through it as well. Your periods seem unpredictable and maybe you’ve missed a period here and there – nope, not pregnant **whew!**
So long are the days of full hair (your hair quality has changed).
Adios to the days of a kicking libido and hello to the days of Netflix.
So long are the days when you could eat a burger and fries and easily drop the weight (somehow your weight is hanging out, especially around your mid section)
And so long are the days of parties and quickly drying your bra in a salad spinner. (Okay that’s probably just me back in my college days…I digress).

Here are some facts you need to know:
- Perimenopause is all about hormonal fluctuations and it marks the beginning of hormonal decline
- The average age (89% of women) will go through perimenopause between the age of 45-55 years old with the average being 51 years old
- However hormonal decline begins around the late to early 40’s
- 5% of women will go through early menopause between the age of 41-45
- 1% of women will go through premature menopause under the age of 40
- 1% of women will go through late menopause over the age of 55
- Early menopause is associated with the following:
- Smoking (it may cause menopause 2 years earlier)
- History of heart disease
- Never having had children

Here’s the recipe:
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup almonds
- 5 pitted dates
- 14oz can of chickpeas, rinsed and drained
- 2 tbsp almond butter
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cacao powder
- 2 teaspoons real maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon organic vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup unsweetened nut milk
- Couple pinches of sea salt
Instructions
- Add all ingredients into your blender and blend scraping down the sides, then blend some more.
- Spoon out with apples and enjoy.
